FAQ
Why should I hire a coach?
Sure, there are any number of free race plans available online, but they aren't tailored to your exact needs. You are not the same as the athlete next to you, so why would you train the same way? You have unique past experiences, goals, and lifestyle that effects how you train. You might get sick, go on vacation, or have some other event in your life that prevents you from following a cookie-cutter plan. I will help you modify your plan to keep you on track. With frequent check-ins of your progress, I can modify your plan as needed based on how your training is going. This is why plans are delivered in 4 week blocks, so we can asses each block and determine how to best proceed for the next block. I'll explain the why behind each of your training runs so you understand the purpose of each run and see how the big picture fits together. Plus, I'll be your biggest cheerleader!
I'm not sure if my goal is realistic. How do I know if I can achieve it?
Congratulations on setting a big goal! At the start of your plan we'll discuss your current fitness, goals, and prior running history. Throughout your training we'll assess your progress and I'll ask you to rate your runs and paces based on how easy/difficult they feel (this is called Rate of Perceived Exertion, or RPE). Communication is key!! The more feedback you provide and consistently report your RPE, the better we'll be able to dial in and set a realistic goal as we approach race day.

It's important to recognize that some goals may take one round of training to achieve, while other may take several training cycles to achieve. It's all a part of the process and I'd love to be with you ever step of the way.
What if I am new to running? I'm not sure how long I can run for.
Welcome to the run club! I will meet you where you are and design a plan that gets you safely moving towards your goals.
How long do I need to prepare for my race?
The time needed to prepare for a race will vary based on the race distance, and the athlete's current fitness, experience, and goals. Below is a general guideline for common distances and assumes you already have a solid base going into the plan. If a base building period is needed, you can expect a longer training plan.
